The UK supermarket Ocado is in contrast to its main competitors only focusing on online sales and home deliveries without operating own stores. Just like in other leading retailers the refreshed products have made inroads to the product offerings at Ocado. If we look at the price differences of fresh and refreshed Atlantic cod portions at Ocado we see that prices tend to fluctuate a little depending on dates in the last three months.

Most of the time the sales price of fresh Atlantic cod portions is above the refreshed, indicating that there is a premium on the fresh vs. refreshed. Yet there are times when the fresh portions are selling at a lower price than the refreshed portions. Still when we compare the monthly averages we see that the price difference was significantly lower in December than for the the two other months.

Even though looking at the price differences also does not explain why this is the case we can speculate that due to the timing of the year either the availability of quality fresh product at Ocado was different than in November and January. This will be something to further follow and explore why there is such a gap in the price differences at times.
